"AVOID. Black mold, filth, no hot water — this property is unsafe and should not be listed."

Our stay at The Beach House in Lahinch was appalling. The property was unsafe, unhygienic, and nothing like what was advertised on Booking.com. Health and Safety Issues: Extensive black mold across the bathroom tiles, grout, window frames, and shower seals. This is not surface dirt — it’s deep, untreated growth that poses serious respiratory risks. No hot water for the duration of our stay, making showering impossible even if we wanted to risk the mold exposure. Strong mildew smell throughout the house from the moment we arrived, indicating damp and poor ventilation. Cleanliness and Maintenance Failures: Bathroom extractor fan thick with dust and clearly never cleaned. Chipped and dirty shower tray. Mold and grime build-up in multiple areas, showing long-term neglect. The entire property felt damp, dirty, and in disrepair. Misrepresentation of Amenities: Listing promised basic toiletries, but there was no shower gel. Only one roll of toilet paper provided for the entire stay. We could not use the bathroom at all because of the unsafe conditions. This property is in breach of Booking.com’s cleanliness standards and should not be available for rent until it has undergone a full professional deep clean, mold remediation, and essential maintenance. I have attached photographic evidence clearly showing the dangerous and unhygienic state of the accommodation. This was not a minor inconvenience — it was hazardous to our health and completely unacceptable.
